Wawiyaatanong,
I hope I can justly honor your depth,
one of these days and forevermore.
I love you, Detroit!
You have been my home for a while now,
as I was washed into your lakes from the Pacific Ocean,
you have shown me roots where I thought only asphalt held.
I have become a woman throughout your nights,
I have explored so many roads,
the spirit and the heart,
home is where I found you.
I love you, Detroit.
My body is ecstatic thinking about your energy,
bouncing between bodies,
you’re in love with me just like I am with you.
Its evident truth is supported by the way you’ve touched me.
The portals I’ve encountered,
allowing myself to come in deep.
There is no denying,
you beam through the souls that inhabit your land.
My lost young self, loved by you in this way.
Thank you for hosting my path.
Grateful to have found God,
in your city at night.
Under the morning sun of Detroit,
I am consumed by your nature.
Who you represent and who you move,
alive you’ve kept them for this,
Heartfelt of my own experience,
knowing you has given me,
the perspective of omnipresent love.
I am yours Detroit
